I haven't been on in a while so Bijou's mailbox was full of birthday wishes lol. I received a few cool items: Queenie gave me a Kiddie Dresser and Groucho gave me an Exotic Wardrobe. I don't have much furniture so I was happy about that.

Patty gave me a bumbershoot which is apparently an umbrella.

I visited Nook's and purchased today's flowers, planted them, and signed off. Newer titles tend to discourage multiplayer by assigning importance to the first character created, and therefore defining a 'main' player, but I like older games where you can use four players interchangeably. Today I wanted to play Romeo.

I had a goal that I was determined to accomplish: establish my other character(s) (provide essential tools/items [wardrobe], etc), organize acres and begin planting orchards.

I wanted to purchase more axes and 30K bells but I didn't remember how (I wasn't entering my player/town ID so Nook kept rejecting my code), I gave up and instead got these two Mario and Luigi trophies. I stumbled upon the codes while I was looking for the generator. Pretty cool? Reminded me of the fishing trophy I have in Bijou's home.

Bijou's prized possessions: silver fishing trophy, cicada, red armchair, cockroach

I know what I did wrong now but it didn't work out while I was playing, so I did what I could with what I had. I dumped the other axes Bijou was hoarding earlier in preparation. I just wanted more for the future.

After messing around at home I went to clean up around town. Like Bijou, Romeo had a bunch of mail. I sorted through everything, donated what I received from the Faraway Museum and sold the duplicates for bells (racked up a lot this way so it worked out). Apparently Crazy Redd will be by at 6PM.

Anyway, I started by pulling weeds. The town was covered in them. It didn't take long though, and it was fun. The plaza was a mess (nobody had wardrobes) so I cleaned that up as well. Miscellaneous tools, clothes, fruits. I started with the tools and fruits.

Now that I had axes I went around town knocking down clusters of trees and burying fruit. I had a few hiccups but it was alright..

This is my current plan for orchards. Hula's native town fruit is apples so I wanted a lot near the train station and the player homes. I think it would look nice. I avoid cutting cedars unless I have to or they're in clusters, 'cause I think they look nice as well.

I tried limiting one-fruit majority orchards to two acres unless I think it would look nice otherwise. But I'm really lenient and everything 'looks nice' to me, so it got out of hand lol. Anyway.. Hula's layout is amazing. I really like it, it's cute. I think certain areas look good with multiple acres of one fruit; this happens about three times throughout town.

First, the plaza. The plaza holds all of my players and represents the town because it is at the top of the map and likely the first thing you see (when visiting, etc as well as myself). Therefore I want this area to stand out the most and look the best! I plant a lot of flowers around here for vibrancy and apple trees as well. The villager homes on the upper-left side of town are well spaced so this works out well; the apples start at the train station and plaza, and slowly crawl left. The apple orchard is the largest orchard in Hula and spans a total of 7-acres (A1-A3, B1-B3 and C1).

To the right I have A4-A5 and B4-B5 dedicated to cherries (4-acres wide). Beneath that, C4-C5 and D4-D5 are home to the town's peaches, which continue into E4-E5 for a whopping 6-acre orchard. Beneath that and to the left is orange island.

Hula doesn't really have an island but it kinda looks like one. GC maps are not to scale and the river always winds differently from what is shown on the map. There's also the illusion the dock gives. It feels blocked in and isolated, and with the beaches so close by it gives me an island feeling, so I went with oranges. I'm not a fan of clusters but because this 'island' is so small the trees look better that way. Orange island is 5-acres wide (F3-F5, E3, D3), and moves upward before cutting into my pear orchard, which is further left.

The pear orchard is the second-largest orchard in Hula. It spans 6-acres (technically 8(?); bottom half of C1-C2 also hold pear trees) from D1-D2, E1-E2, F1-F2.

I didn't take screenshots because there's not much to show, just the repetitive digging and re-burying. I also dislike spending a lot of time in PS cropping/resizing excessive screenshots that don't show much overall.

I found 100 bells after almost every third hole dug thanks to my golden shovel, I was planting pear trees in the right photo.

All in a day's work, right? Back to the plaza. I picked up the tools I left out for India and Otto almost a year ago (time flies) and finally cleaned up the last of the plaza. Now it's just stationary [free] [dump approved] and saplings. Bijou's b-day gifts were re-distributed to residents in need, the Kiddie Dresser went to Otto. Bijou also received a Green Desk which India took.
